My name is MitDavidDv. Although I joined this group in January I am still new to it as well as studying for the GMAT. I found a post here that I must work on the strategy of the GMAT. What are the main strategies that the GMAT uses on a student like me? :?

Hi. Welcome!
Depends on what you calling strategy - if strategy to prepare, see this one: gmat-study-plan-for-gmat-novices-start-your-gmat-journey-80727.html

What I mean by strategy in this case is what techniques does the GMAT use? For example are some questions designed to try and trick you? Does the GMAT want detailed answers to some questions? Because the GMAT only tests you on the basics of quant and verbal that means to me I must go after the strategy of the GMAT.

I suggest you start with the Kaplan book... It will give you an over all picture of GMAT... and after you have a good understanding, you can start referring other books :)

MGMAT guides, Aristotle Prep, Kaplan, GMATClub tests, all of these are perfectly viable options

Also anything with GMAC's stamp of approval :)

The books I have are:
The GMAT Review 11th Edition
GMAT: The Princeton Review
Manhattan GMAT: Foundations of GMAT Math
Third Edition of GMAT Answers to the Real Essay Questions
Manhattan GMAT: The Official Guide Companion to the 12th Edition
I hope you tell me that this is really all I need because I don't want to spend anymore money on other books. By the way my target score is 700. All I really need to make is a 550 or better to get into graduate school. :|

Shalom!
I have a question. I am new to this(studying for the GMAT). I have read some GMAT prep websites that encourage you to hire a tutor and/or sign up for a class. The GMAT Club has a lot of information that covers all aspects of the GMAT test as well as lets you ask any question relating to it. My question is why should I pay for a class or tutor services when the GMAT club offers all the information I need to do well on the GMAT?
