I have purchased this app and it seems to have many practice question at the moment I'm strugglig with some maths questions, my exam is in about 2 weeks. I was wondering how much doing the hard quants question in this app would help me. My concern is not how difficult these questions are but how relevant. I have a huge data bank of questions Including difficult questions but a lot of them are not in sync with OG GUIDE format so they ain't of much use to me. How much I can rely on GMAT toolkit questions? I would really appreciate some experienced replies!

Thanks

All questions in GMAT ToolKit are from the best test prep companies or from GMAT Club Tests. All of those resources where tested by students over a couple of years at least. So, you can rely on them. Additional questions that you can download and add to the app may come from different resources and useful if you run out of built-in questions or want to focus on specific type of questions.

Now about math. There is no "yes/no" answer to your question. Personally for me only hard math questions helped me to get Q50 but I know others who found more useful to practice with less challenging questions. It depends on your learning style, how you work with questions, and what your target is. Try to solve and understand 50 or so hard questions. If you feel you have learned new concepts and tricks, go ahead and keep solving them. If your target is 700+, the questions are just what you need, if <700, probably less challenging questions would be more appropriate taking into account that only 2 weeks left.

Let me know if you have any other questions,
Best,
Walker

Yes I'm aiming 700+. In maths section I'm struggling with mainly Probability / combinations and geometry. I'm just gonna practice all toolkit 38 questions first and see how I perform. I think before exam I'll be fine with geometry too but I doubt the same for probability. If I'm wrong on all Probability qs on the exam can I still perform 700?

Can you please also explain the scoring system if you know. I dont understand how I get more score on maths and less on verbal when I make less mistakes on verbal and more on maths e.g. 7 wrong out of 41 in verbal and 8 wrong out of 37 on maths?

You may also find it useful to go over those questions (Probability/Counting): combinations-permutations-and-probability-references-56486.html

I saw people reported 0-7 probability/counting problems on exam. In general there are 2. So, can you get 700+ skipping probability/counting questions? It's possible.
I'm not a big specialist in scoring system and you may find a lot of posts dedicated to it. What I know is that the easier question you get wrong the more points you lose and that verbal and quant sections have different sensitivity to mistakes.

I can attest to how awesome this app is.

Just a quick note to those maintaining it - going in and out of the "scratch" paper mode clears it in the latest version for me. It was preferable when it was maintained so that I could compare my notes with what the explanation says, or to see if I made a careless calculation error.

Thanks for a great tool!

We are going to submit 1.6.10 update in a week or so that includes following improvements:

+ new scratch pad behavior: do not erase a drawing when working with the same problem.

Thanks,

We are going to submit 1.6.10 update today. What's new:

+ the scratchpad is not longer being cleared when it's opened several times for the same question.
+ fixed the issue that the app may occasionally crash when opens the scratchpad.
+ the timer in the Practice tool correctly handles situations when the app becomes inactive/active.

By the way, we keep working on 2.0.0 version that we are going to release in 2-3 months.

Thanks for feedback!

Apple has approved 1.6.10 update a few minutes ago. What's new:
+ fixed the bug with the scratchpad (the app sometimes crashed if the scratchpad is used often)
+ fixed the bug with incorrect time algorithm in the Practice when a user receives calls or opens/closes notifications in iOS5.

Thanks all for feedback!

Best,
Walker

walker,

I just bought the app off of a recommendation from a friend, and am extremely excited to fully utilize it. I've been studying with the OG books and tracking my progress through Manhattan GMAT's OG Archer tool on their website, but I like the setup/interface of the GMAT Toolkit app much better. I'm wondering...is there any way to manually input data into this app? For instance, I've done about 1/3 of the problems in Quant 2nd and Verbal 2nd, and have used OG Archer to track progress, time, etc. In lieu of going through each question in the app and waiting until that question's corresponding time matches what it took me to answer using OG Archer, is there a manual time/answer input into the OG Tracker section so I can still see accurate progress? (instead of going through the OG questions I've completed and inputting answers in the app, skewing the average time on the quick side and making me think I'm flying through each question...)

I know this conundrum may be a bit confusing, but any help you can provide would be wonderful.

Thanks!

Thanks for your words!
Yes, there is a way around. The only thing you need is to write out all your data like this:

Books-OG12-DT-PS-2-00:02-E-sure-06:49:01|01202012;

It's pretty self-explanatory: Books-[a name of a book]-[section: DT, PS, DS, CR, SC, RC]-[Type]-[number]-[time spent]-[answer]-[sure/guess]-[date];
Use "OG Quant 2" and "OG Verbal 2" instead of "OG12"
When you get all your data in that format, you can use import through a clipboard in the OG Tracker. But first of all, create only 1 or a few record(s) manually and try to add it/them to the app, so you know that it works.

Feel free to PM me if you need any assistance with that.

Best,
Walker

I think you can put a string like that together very quickly in Excel using the function CONCATENATE and you can probably import data into excel from Archer along with other info, so the whole process may take less than 15 mins (sans figuring out how to use all of it, which may take longer)

walker, bb,

Thanks so much for the quick response. I listed out all my answers/times in Excel and used the Concatenate function to list each as a string in the format described, then imported all lines to GMAT Toolkit and it worked perfectly.

Thanks again for the help, on to more studying!
