dabots had the great idea of having us post where we're going after bschool, so I volunteered to get this thread going and to update it with your updates. Hope we can get a bunch of the Class of 2010 peeps back for this mini "reunion" Let's use this format to keep it standardized (suggestions are welcome): Name - School - FT Job You Accepted - Industry (in case people don't know what the company does) Career Switcher? [Y/N] (if yes, from what to what?) Job title/brief description:I'll keep it updated here every once in a while, so just reply and I'll consolidate it all. GMATClub Class of 2010 - Where Are They Going Listhelg - Booth - a large U.S. agribusiness companyCareer Switcher? - Yes, from supply chain management in healthcare industry Job title/brief description: leadership development program with 2 rotations in corp. finance and corp. strategy. togafoot - HKUST - Nanbeijie - Social Gaming/ecommerce/Social NetworksCareer Switcher: Sort of, From Mobile Tech to Internet Tech although both areas are converging anyhow. Job Title: Start-Up (co-founder), so I mostly focus on :- Product management (features, games strategies, metrics how all the apps fit together), CTO stuff (tech strategy, tech resource management, project management) and investor relations (Networking for funding etc.).. as well as some other stuff (marketing strategy etc.). kwam - Chicago Booth - MA at the Private Wealth Management division of a major US BankCareer Switcher: Not Really, though the function is new for me, I have structured products for the Wealth Management division before. Job title/brief description: During the first 18 months I will be based in NYC. The firs 6 months I will be rotating through Investments Advisory / Asset Allocation, some trading and structuring desks, and then Relationship Management where I most likely will settle after the program. After these 18 months, there is a big chance that I will be relocated to Europe (to the country that specializes in PWM). Job Market for banking in general was tough, and given that I was not actively looking for jobs I am more than satisfied with the outcome. ncp - Michigan Ross - Major US health plan provider - Healthcare Leadership Dev ProgramCareer Switcher: Yes, business consulting to healthcare Job title: Associate, Leadership Dev Program - 4 rotations, ranging from marketing to managing contracts with hospitals, followed by promotion to Director bherronp - Michigan - Amazon.com (haven't officially accepted yet, but will soon)Career Switcher?: Yes, from IT to Tech/e-commerce marketing Job: Product Manager (although the titles at Amazon are rather nebulous when you get an offer, you could end up doing a wide variety of things) Internship recruiting was brutal, and FT was still challenging, but I got a tob job I wanted and get to go back home, so it all worked out in the end. dabots - Booth - "Korean Conglomerate" - Strategy GroupCareer Switcher: Yes, government consulting to corporate strategy Job title: Strategist, working on strategy cases across business units Internship: product innovation at tech firm very happy with the transition, both the role and working in Asia without any previous experience there kryzak - Berkeley-Haas - Zynga - Gaming/Social Networks/TechCareer Switcher: Yes, defense/aerospace to gaming/social media Job title: Product Manager - in charge of features, metrics, and strategy for a game

Awesome idea ... can you also include a brief description of the position / function you'll be performing, and whether or not you were a career switcher?
Love this forum ... thanks!

Awesome idea folks keep us updated. Really curious to see how everyone's progressing. I might start one with internships in a couple of months when it becomes clearer who is doing what.

updated with suggestions to be more comprehensive. Hopefully this can be useful for current students as more of us become alums (i.e. informational interviews)

It is surreal to post in this thread. I have 1 week to decide where I want to be, but one more decision and this journey would come be complete. Congrats to kry, bherronp and dabots!

You're making me rethink my decision to go to Duke, that's a tremendous opportunity coming from a non-healthcare background.

Yep, sucking up a lot of my time, but it's very empowering. Lot's of different things we have to work with being in China, e.g. no open platform in the social networks here. Although if/when we start to expand internationally, we will be looking at using the likes of Facebook, Mixi, Cyworld, Gree etc. as a platform. Currently have my hands full desigining/speccing a property and sports social game.

Now that I am back on board here, read this thread, and officially accepted a position...time to update Prior to Kellogg I was an engineer working in the defense space, all engineers for the most part are career changers of some sort. After graduation I will be joining a fortune 500 manufacturing company as a manager. Based on function, responsibility, and starting position I am very excited...my only complaint is that I wont get much time off since they wanted me to start ASAP...I was the only person interviewed currently in school, the rest of the applicants I met graduated from b-school 2-4 years ago. So no fun summer of traveling for me like my buds, who don't start until end of August or September; I will be starting within a month of graduation. For those looking at off campus recruiting my position is a perfect example of how strange the process can be. I applied to a position that was intended for alumni, talked to a few Kellogg alums who work for the company to get a sense of the position. Had a first round interview where the interviewer talked about how the Kellogg guys were pulling for me but asked if I felt I was under qualified since I didnt have a few years of post MBA experience. Flew out for a second round with several other people got interviewed by the SVPs and COO, and somehow got the job. Only regret in the whole process was not putting an even higher requested total compensation since they gave me exactly what I put, which I admittedly thought was going to be high but was hoping to anchor the starting negotiating point haha...lesson learned: unless you are terrified of losing an offer because of it...take what you think is a very high but somewhat justifiable compensation request and add even more to it.
