Hi there,
A little bit about myself before I go on and on about my idea of gmatclub.com study group.
I have been working in NYC for the past two years with a large investment bank. I work with research and I plan to go to business school in 2007. I gave the GMAT for the first time a week back and scored a 680 despite a lot of fumbling with timing. The breakup was a 47 in Q and 37 in V.
Now I recently downloaded the cr1000 and sc1000 documents. I find those to be great resources to practice, especially the timing etc. Obviously it is unreasonable to expect getting through all of the questions. In fact I don't even think that is needed.
I feel that if a few of us, who have similar target scores and committment towards the exam prep, get together and do these practice sets in co-ordination. The idea is to keep each other motivated as well as discuss mistakes on this forum on a daily basis. I think discussing mistakes and going over what you did wrong is such an important factor in the success of the whole preparation. What this will also allow to do is to identify the really tough problems. (if 5 of us get the same problem wrong..it was obviously a tough one or maybe a bad moment for each one of us when we attempted the problem).
I think the idea can take off so let me know what you think. Rather than spending a lot of time discussing the logistics, whoever wants to get rolling..let me know and we should decide on problem sets and start off.
The discussions within the study group will surely benefit others who subsequently do these problem sets.
best,
A
