GMATPrep#1: At a certain pet shop, 1/3 of pets... (DS) [#permalink]

Here's a DS question that I couldn't quite get my hands around. I know this is relatively simple, but my brain can't seem to come up with the right equations for this one!
At a certain pet shop, 1/3 of the pets are dogs and 1/5 of the pets are birds. How many of the pets are dogs?
(1) There are 30 birds at the pet shop
(2) There are 20 more dogs than birds at the pet shop.
My rephrasing of the question:
1/3 (B+D) = D
1/5 (B+D) = B
What is B+D?
My rephrasing of the statements:
(1) B=30
(2) D = B + 20
Suggestions?

D.
All pets=X
so Dogs=x/3 and birds=x/5
1. x/5=30, so all the pets are x=150. then u can find dogs. thus suff.
2. x/3=x/5+20 find x=150 then u can find dogs. thus suff.
so D
