GMATprep 760; Actual GMAT 660! Please help [#permalink]

Hello everybody,

Gave GMAT the second time today and I am terribly disappointed with the result. Scored just 660(q49,v30). The first time, I had scored 610. I had a genuine reason for doing so miserably the first time. I was very unwell at the time of the test. But today's 'performance' is an absolute shocker because I averaged around 740 in the mocks that I took. Had scored 760 less than a week ago (GMATprep). So, I really don't know how I managed to score just 660. All the mocks that I had taken were as close to the exam conditions as possible. I have given the CAT exam, an MBA entrance in India,and scored 99 percentile in the verbal section.

Can any of you please try to shed light on this? Where am I going wrong? Have any you faced such a situation before?

I have noticed a lot of students who report a similar situation.

I'd be curious why this happens......I guess is because all practice questions you take, mock CAT and so on and so forth there is a loto of difference between that and real questions on real exame.

I wait a response from a person with more experience than me, better a GMAT instructor if possible

I can understand what you must be going through as i too went though a similar situation. 620-shocked-but-not-defeated-135978.html
It's the verbal that has pulled down our score. I felt a major shift in SC during the actual and found it to be more focused towards style and usage.
