GMATPrep Q48 with 7 wrong. Possible? [#permalink]

I did a GMATPrep last night and did only the Quant section. I wanted to get a feel for where I was with my prep over the last 6 weeks.

I looked at the number of questions I got wrong and it was like 7 or 8. I wasn't so surprised to see that number of questions wrong, but what I was surprised was to see Q48 on the score screen.

I realize there is not formula like "Get 3 wrong = Q52, 5 wrong Q49, etc", but 7 or 8 wrong seems like a lot of to still get a Q48. I do not want to get overconfident. I'm taking the GMAT for the second time mid-July for my apps this fall. My verbal is my strongest part. I got a V38 (for an 84%) on my first take, but I believe I can get that up to an 44 - 47 easily since I did about 1 weeks worth of verbal prep before taking the test in April.

Thoughts anyone?

Kudos to those that take the time to give a thoughtful, helpful response.

The criteria is set by the test takers and so u have a table which gives u the gmat equivalent of your score ...... For the test takers , the only advice will be to focus on as many correct answers u can get .... In some other test u take it may be quite possible that u get a Q 38 with 7-8 wrong answers ... all depends on which ones u got wrong .... Did that help ? If you get 2-3 wrong in a row early on, it might be harder to recover as much. I just don't want to think I'm starting to understand this stuff on a high level, then go take the test and get a Q43 or something. I got 2 wrong in a row once at about 22 & 23. I missed #3, # 7 and #10 and then went a stretch of about 11 in a row correct. Then missed 2 or 3 in the last 10 questions of the test. Now that I think about it, that 11 correct in a row from 11 to 22 might have been the difference to bring my score up and keep it there. _________________ ------------------------------------ J Allen Morris **I'm pretty sure I'm right, but then again, I'm just a guy with his head up his a$$.

gmatprep 12 wrong 50Q , the design of the test is towards the end you are supposed to get one right, one wrong, at your score level.

Thanks. I trust the GMATPrep scoring method since they write the actual GMAT!

I need to get my practice environment a bit more "test-like" as I did this after I got home from work and my wife and daughter were talking to me a various times throughout the test. It's hard to be gone all day and then tell a 2 year-old it will be another hour and a half. _________________ ------------------------------------ J Allen Morris **I'm pretty sure I'm right, but then again, I'm just a guy with his head up his a$$.
