Gmatprep score plummet 700 -> 600 ?! wanna know why? [#permalink] New post 03 Dec 2006, 19:03
Ok, I had obtained pretty consistent score on Gmatprep, PP, and Kaplan over the past few weeks... until last saturday.

Nov 4 - Gmatprep 1
700 Q49, V35

Nov 11 - Kaplan CAT1
640 Q50, V33
A bit low, but thats normal for Kaplan CAT

Nov 25 - Powerprep test 1
710 Q48, V38

Dec 2 - Gmatprep test 2
600 Q50, V21!!! WTF ?

Whats wrong with my verbal ?! Frustrated, demoralized, terrified.. I took a retest on Gmatprep the following day

Dec 3 - Gmatprep test 1 (Repeat)
710 Q49, V37
Some repeated questions, which some of them I still did wrongly.

I would really appreciate some help! I dont want that same thing to happen on the real G-day.

No mistake streak at the final part.

File comment: This is how u get V21
Look at the one 'streak'.
I have a correct streak in the middle, but the momentum is lost in the final part of the exam.

By having a closer look to your mistakes, we can see that the second half of your Verbal section is almost completly wrong : 5 on 17 answers are correct.

That's what makes your score passed from a odd score of 35+ to that of 21.

I had the same experience as u had. My trouble was to remain focussed. Generally, I felt tired, hungry or merely bored. The half of verbal section is a cap to cross with energy and motivation. If one of them missed, I experienced a problem.

My solution was to practice intensively several verbal questions and to eat something during the break time.

And finally, it's perhaps just one bad day ! :)

Good luck ! :)

That must be the reason. :?

Looking at the brighter side, at least I found this dark side of Gmat CAT 2 weeks b4 the actual exam. What if I did not discovered this untill my G-day  That would be devastating!

Thanks for the advice, Fig. I will be sure to prepare some snack, choc bar, milo on G-day
