Goals Essay - European MBA Programs [#permalink] New post 14 Jan 2009, 10:37
Hello Paul

I had a question regarding the apps for European programs. I am planning to submit my application for the full time MBA program in INSEAD & Cranfield. I am also applying at Notre Dame and Emory (2 Yr programs) in USA.I am getting stuck on the essays and I am not exactly sure as to how to get this resolved.

I work as an IT consultant and most of my experience has been in the health insurance industry in USA. My goal after the MBA is to join a management rotation program in the US health insurance industry and eventually move into product development.

My concern is that would a European program frown upon a goals essay that talks about joining the industry in a specific country (USA)? I am not sure about the health insurance practices in other countries.

Thanks.

INSEADis doing a lot of recruiting in the US, and it doesn't have problems with applicants who want to return to the US. Cranfield is more UK and Euro-focused, but would welcome a US applicant with good reasons for wanting to attend Cranfield.

Both schools will want to see a solid reason for why you want to attend their programs if your goal is to return to the US health care industry. If you have a good reason (other than "I want to spend a year in Europe"), then they will consider your application and evaluate it based on the usual criteria.

Best,
Linda

Hello Linda

Thanks a lot for your comments. My plans were to modify my essays for the US programs to include the international aspect of an education in INSEAD & Cranfield, the GM focus of their programs and the specific resources in the schools that I plan to utilize.

Is this a good action plan?

The specifics are going to determine if this is a good action plan or not. Ifyou can tie their program to the achievement of your goals, then it's a good plan.

Best,
Linda
