I can verify that that chart is not exactly correct. A combined score of 89 (48Q, 41V) put me at 730, which seem to be fairly accurrately represented on the charte, but a combined score of 101 (50Q, 51V) put me at 780. I was actually questioning whether 51 was in fact the top score possible, thought that seems to be the case. I did go in believing that a 50/50 would result in an 800, but I believe Q scoring has become tougher in recent years.

I know some folks with a 50/41 who made a 750, and with a 51/41 who made a 760. I think its not that straightforward, after all.

Check out the attachment from mba.com, does not answer this question per se, but it does answer what I asked earlier in another thread.

50 in quant does translate to a 95% almost always. What do you folks think?

PS: One interesting thing I notice is that earlier 750 put you at 99 percentile, now it puts you at 98 percentile.

Futuristic, when was this sample report posted? The date listed on the record states 1/06. My report from 8/23/06 still shows 99th percentile to be 750. I should be getting my report for the most recent attempt in a week or so. I wonder if there will be an adjustment on the percentiles when I receive my official report.

I do have a theory regarding scores. It seems that scores about the 99th percentile of verbal (currently 45) does not affect the final score that much. There have been recent reports here at GMAT club of 50Q/43V for 760, 50Q/44V for 770, 50Q/47V 770, and me 50Q/51V 780. So, an improvement from 44 to 51 V only results in a 10 point change in the final score. It seems that an improvement of 1Q is better than 7V in this range. Hard to say how they calculate the final score.

pelihu, I just donwloaded it straight from mba.com. I agrre with you in that once you've crossed a 40-41 in verbal, scores don't jump as much as they do for a similar increase in math scores.
