Took the GMAT today after only 3 weeks of preparation. According to the unofficial score report I received 42Q/66% and 34V/70% for a total of 620/74%. I am disappointed but at the same time not surprised at the outcome.
Study materials: I primarily used the
OG11 to study with some of the GMAX online course. My schedule does not allow me to take any other full-time or online course. I was panicking this past week because I was scoring in the 5XXs in my practice tests.
Situation: I am currently an active-duty U.S. Army officer with 3+ years experience. My military focus has been maintenance management / logistics planning. The only problem is that my schedule is not the most conducive for studying; my unit is preparing for field training or conducting field training for 2 of the next 3 months. The soonest I can retake the GMAT is mid-December! On top of that, I'm applying for the Fall 2008 semester...
Goal: First, I need to create a solid plan of action that has a lot of room for error (i.e. if I miss a study target, I have the ability to adjust because my schedule is unpredictable). My goal is to reach at least an 85/85 split in my scores, especially in my math, to compensate for my weak undergraduate background in math. I also need to read more in order to increase my critical reasoning and reading comprehension skills. I've set a decent foundation; now it's time to build on it!
