(A) 40
(B) 100
(C) 400
(D) 1,000
(E) 10,000

2) Harry started a 6-mile hike with a full 10-cup canteen of water and finished the hike in 2 hours with 1 cup of water remaining in the canteen. 1)
Mag Intensity
125 X
135 10X
145 100X
155 1,000X
165 10,000X

2) Total cups of water = 10
Less water remaining at the end = -1
Less water leaked in 2 hrs = -2
Less water consumed in last mile = -3
Water consumed during first 5 miles = 4
Water consumed per mile = 4/5.

3) probability that Xavier will solve the problem = 1/4
and Yvonne will solve the problem = 1/2*1/4
and Zeld won't solve the problem = 3/8*1/2*1/4 = 3/64

10^4

10 - (1+2+3) = 4 cans consumed in 5 hrs
4/5

1/4 * 1/2 * 3/8

2.

total water available in the starting = 10 cups

left over in the end = 1 cup

=> water consumed during the trip = 9 cups

out of this water leaked @1 cup /hr = > 2 cups in 2 hours

=> actual amount of water consumed during the trip after excluding leakage = 7 cups

out of this , 3 cups were used during last mile

=> 4 cups of water were consumed during first 5 miles

=> in one mile , water consumed at the rate of 4/5 cups

P(X).P(Y).P(not z) = (1/4)*(1/2)*(3/8)

= 3/64
