Hey guys, I just got back from the center, got 680 (47Q,36V)
nothing outstanding I know, but I guess is fairly decent.

I'll be applying for a PHD in finance so I hope that is enough even though I think the typical score of the applicants for PHD is above 700

I was expecting 48+ in math, so that probably killed my chance to get a 700.

I think powerprep resembles pretty fairly what to expect from the exam, a little bit easier probably. Gmatprep is slightly harder, and kaplan is definetely way harder.

my scores were

Kaplan 580,550
PowerPrep 710,610 24 hours before the test
GmatPrep 680, 640

I don't think I will have enough time or energy to retake the exam, even though I think I still have a huge room for improvement, anway
I want to thank everybody here for your help

yours

Congratulations!! 680 is not a bad score at all!

Surely one could always do better, but not everyone has enough time. As long as YOU are satisfied with your score there is no need to worry :)

Good luck with you phd application!

Congrats! That's a great score! You definitely deserve more, but I agree with nero44, 680 should be as good as a 7XX. That's just a 'magic' mark that we all have in mind. From admissions point of view, I don't think a 680 or 700 would make much of a difference.
Good luck with your applications!

The top finance schools typically like to see a 95 percentile or more in the Quant. Its a very quantitative program. You will probably need very good grades in probability theory, real analysis, and related quant coursework.
