Hi All,
I gave my GMAT today and scored a 700(Q49, V36).
Firstly I would like to thank for all the notes, questions banks and study material on the gmatclub forums. They were a big help.
Secondly, I know that though my scores are not that great but I want to start applying for colleges both in my country(India) as well as outside.
I am looking for a Full time MBA in Finance one or two year.
Below are my profile details:
Work ex- 2 years in Financial operations in a big US Hedge fund firm.( M Just 23 years old
)
Graduate in Bachelor of commerce from SRCC (Best college of my country)
12th- 96% CBSE
10th - 92% CBSE
CFA Level 1 December applicant.
I have always been a topper in my school/college.In extra curriculars- I am a dancer, taken part in many case study/quiz competitions at college level, been part of placement cell of my college, have done some voluntary work, and couple of other things.
My profile does not seem that interesting as I see people with 5-6 years of experience/ master degrees seeking to apply. Still, I want to know my options and start applying if possible.
Please help me with a list of colleges and how I should go about it.
Many thanks.
Congrats on being done with the GMAT. I'd be happy to help you come up with a list of schools and guide you through the application process.
To start with, what do you want to do after business school?
Since college what have you done outside of work, and how much leadership was involved? I see a lot in college but since college I don't see a clear picture so far as I think about telling a cohesive story about you.
Certainly ISB is reasonable for you. Depending on your post MBA goals I will suggest some other schools in the US and Europe.
Also how have you performed at work? Would you say you are a top performer and got a decent raise?
You should be able to target the lower end of top tier schools, with the one main limiting factor being your GMAT. Your age also won't help but I'm less concerned about that if you have enough leadership experience.
Thank you for your time.
After my MBA I want to work in the finance/investment sector. I am doing CFA too.
On my leadership skills- Little in office though but I have done quite few tasks in my school/college. Since Its just been two years and I am straight out of college, not much opportunities came my way during work. Though there are few instances that show my leadership skills.
I will be surely apply for ISB but I want to have few other options, good ones.
At work I am a good enough performer and will be able to get good recommendations as well.
Please provide your insights. Also, travelling is my passion and I have been doing that a lot since I started earning.
