Got 710...But in a Dilemna !! [#permalink] New post 27 Jun 2012, 08:41
Hey All,

I gave GMAT on 11th June with the new format and got 710 (q50, v35)..M not too upbeat about the score
Cause i find myself satisfying the some of the points in the following thread..

should-i-retake-gmat-thread-retaking-gmat-strategies-83339.html?fl=menu

The most important reason for my confusion is that i am an Indian IT male , who has done engineering
in Computer Science. Also with this i may not get any scholarship.

But apart from that following are some of my achievements so far..

Achievements/Extracurricular Activities:

 Member of MFG_Dyanamites (Fun Events organizing committee) in Infosys (2011-12)
 Nominated for Most Promising Fresher, Most Valuable Player-Systems Engineer and Employee Champion Awards in Infosys (2010-11)
 Member of Toastmaster International Club, Infosys
 Organized the Annual Technical and Cultural fest GOONJ'09 in college
 Member of Academic and Literary Committee (ACLIT) in college
 Member of Disciplinary Committee (DISCO) in college
 Won the Super Seven Tournament of cricket in college

Association with Rotaract Club (2002-12)
 Director Club Services (D.C.S) of Rotaract District 3080
 Advisor of Rotaract Club Chandigarh Himalayan
 Won ‘Rotaractor of the Year’ Award
 Joint Secretary and Creative Head (Board Member) of Rotaract Club, Chandigarh
 Served as the Director of Interact club, part of Rotary International Club in school

Experts can you please guide me on whether i shall retake my exam or not..

Regards
Nikhil

Only if you think you can make a big difference to your score (i.e. kick it up to say, 770), you might want to think of re-taking. A ton of Indian IT males with a score in the range 720 - 760 apply to the top B schools. Most of them have Q 50/51 and V varies. A great Verbal score can give you an edge. Also, in any case, you need to have a great story. You need to put in a lot of effort in your application process and focus on what sets you apart since your resume will not do that job for you.
