got a 700 today, burn OG burn... [#permalink] New post 27 Dec 2005, 19:04
Hey everyone,

Wanted to thank all those who go out of their way to explain the solutions to problems here. Too many to name, but your effort is certainly appreciated. Math 49 (90th %), Verbal 38 (85 %)

Math -- thought it was def doable, know your algebra, properties of numbers, mixtures, geometry. Wouldn't say too many really tough ones, just plenty of tricky ones. Had a few problems that would've taken me 4+ minutes to solve, guessed on those. I guess that's the difference between a 49 and a 50 in math.

Verbal -- had a horrible experience when my test-taker neighbor's computer started beeping loudly. The noice problem wasn't fixed for 10 minutes, completely threw me off-track, seriously considered cancelling the score as a result. To top it off, got a nasty RC seventy-liner, know your RC solid, a few were very tough. In the end, raced through remaining 26 problems thinking I'll cancel the exam...Overall, thought Verbal was very tough. The SC in particular were not what I became accustomed to in OG. Plenty of convoluted choices w/t an obvious, correct choice. Lots of parallel construction problems.

I figured as long as I get a 700 or above, I'll be content. Got a balanced 700, will be burning my books tomorrow morning...

Lastly, wanted to mention that this wasn't my first attempt, my last attempt completely destroyed me. If you had a bad score, don't lose hope. Study hard, take some time off if you have to, and then re-take the exam.

Practiced primarily OG and Kaplan books & CD.
Best,

Thanks Paul. Your explanations went a long way. (Happy new year btw!)

I noticed you also scored V49, Math 38, and landed in 710 (95%) land, while I landed at 700 (93%). Is it b/c these scores vary a bit based on the test you take?
