Grad GPA < Under grad GPA [#permalink]
09 Sep 2011, 11:01
My GPA from college is 3.82/4.0 and my grad school GPA is 3.67/4.0. Should I be concerned that my grad GPA is less than my under grad GPA? Should I explain it in the optional essay or not draw attention to it?

Well, something admissions at a variety of schools keep saying is "we on the adcom have great imaginations, so if theres some peculiarity in your application, who knows what well think of to explain it"
I'd say if you do have a legitimate explanation for why it's lower, go for it. If you don't have much of a reason and you'd just be making excuses, then that's something different.

Thanks everyone for the reply. I was reading the Paul Bodine book and he specifically stated that if your grad GPA is lower than your undergrad GPA, you may have to explain it in the optional essay. But it looks like in my case its best not to draw any attention to it.
