Hmmmm, I'm not sure if this is the best goal for you. What is your idea behind getting a PhD? You know the main thing about PhD to be successful is to start early. IT takes 3 (absolute minimum) to finish, but in reality five... plus then you have to work in academia for a few years to prove yourself, get some post doc work, etc. If your goal is to make tenure, it's probably already a bit late... but if you want the knowledge for other reasons, then it might be a good idea.
What are your ideas? What are your goals?
