Graduate ranking [#permalink] New post 07 Oct 2007, 04:32
Is anyone here getting your graduate ranking from the university you attended? My university is giving my ranking based on all graduate students who graduated the same semester as me and I don't believe thats an accurate representation since every department is different in how it grades.

As you can guess from my asking, the ranking is not good at all. How important is graduate ranking?

Thanks

I'm an engineer undergrad, from a school which has around 600 graduated per year. They gave me not only my ranking based on the whole school but also my ranking on the Electrical Engineering class. My ranking looks better for the whole school because electrical engineering was very competitive and students used to study really hard.

I agree with you, but this kind of distortions will happen one way or another. Just live with that and feel free to use the extra essay if you think it's appropriate to explain them this point.

Yes, I know you are right. However, I don't think I should do an optional essay because of this. I have nothing to whine about :) I was your average international student working 20 hours a week on an RA.

Thank you
