I gave GRE 9 years ago. I am preparing for GMAT now. I think for non native speakers with strong quant, GMAT is easier.

I am struggeling with this dilemma now. All the schools I'm considering for my master accepts GRE and GMAT. I have quit weak math skills, but at the same time a non-native english.

Unfortunately in some areas the Pearson VUE does not have testing center for the GMAT, for example in Tajikistan the country that I come from. Knowing the toughness of the GMAT and cost people do not want to travel abroad and take GMAT somewhere in Moscow, Istanbul or Dubai - that is onerous time and cost-wise, believe me. To this end, people take the GRE as it is available alongside TOEFL iBT. This issue is common for many other countries, I actually kindly ask the GMAT guys and Pearson VUE to open a testing center here in Dushanbe, Tajikistan - it will definitely pay off and help the guys like me a big time:-)

I took GRE little less than 5 years back. The score is going to expire in a few months. Considering that I scored 1440 on GRE which equals 720 on GMAT according to the ETS tool; should I apply to B-schools with GRE score or take GMAT now?

What is the acceptance rate of GRE among B-schools?

I took both the GMAT (720) and GRE and (163 V, 164Q) and the ETS score conversion tool predicted exactly that, so it seems to be very accurate.

Just gonna add my 2 cents.

Pro's:
The exam is cheaper.
There are far more locations where you can take it.
You can decide which scores to show (generally not a big advantage since most bschools USUALLY select the highest score in GMAT)
Math is easier

Con's:
Verbal is harder
You will need to learn a few hundred words to obtain a +150 score on verbal, maybe a thousand for +160
GRE percentiles don't equate to GMAT percentiles. Any school that uses GMAT primarly, will deduct a few points according to this conversion scale

i want to know the major difference between GRE and GMAT. Not for applying for MBA but for preparation . Is maths easier or is verbal easier in GRE? Please tell me with respect to new GRE format!!

Today I tried to take GRE test (quant. part only and I found out that I am master in Math :) , I did the same with GMAT test and I received mediocre score. My weakness is Data sufficiency. The univ. of my choice accept also Gre score. I definitely will do the GRe.
GMAT is a horror, especially data sufficiency!!!!

More and more schools are now accepting the GRE in lieu of the GMAT. GMAT, in my opinion, is still the preferred test of choice for the top U.S. MBA programs, but if you have scored low on the GMAT, you may find the GRE easier and it is just as accepted. I personally believe the quant is harder on the GMAT, and the verbal is harder on the GRE. If you're repeatedly scoring low on the GMAT, take the GRE.
