Hi Linda,
Is it ok to use accomplishments that don't have anything to do with work/school but that for x reason they make you a better person/leader? The reason why I ask is because I have already mentioned many of my work accomplishments in other essays and by discussing personal accomplishments(it might be a hobby or extracurricular activity) I am able to give a more rounded view of me.
Thanks!
Cris
ps: I have sent you a private message with the specific example to see if you think I can use it. Thanks!
Cris,
Thanks for the post and the private message. While the accomplishment you want to use certainly is an accomplishment, my concern is that it is an accomplishment where you cannot yet show impact. Yes, it has affected you, but so far you haven't been able to translate that impact into something affecting other individuals, a group, or organization. In that respect if falls a little flat, no pun intended, as an accomplishment.
Obvioulsy, I don't know what is in the rest of your essays, but I would advise you to use this accomplishment in another essay and use something that shows you accomplishing and having impact as your most significant achievement.
Good luck!
