amen to that my friend ... i am a youngish guy 25 - but my body type just isnt designed for flat fronts. Another thing to think about is people living in cold environments, which it seems most of us will be...overcoats. It may seem like the wrong time of year to be thinking about but you can definitely get a good deal. Yet another thing to think about buying and spending more money on.

Good point, rr, most events and interviews cluster around the November - February period, when it's cold almost everywhere. Coats, scarves and gloves will prove very valuable.

so I found a new place that makes pretty good custom made suits for pretty good price. Got 2 suits (the standard navy and dark gray) in Taiwan for a total of $530 USD. I think part of it is the exchange rate and part of it is the cheap labor. The expensive part is the fabric (I asked for one of the best ones he had). I'm pretty happy with the suits and they fit pretty well, so just wanted to throw that out there if anyone is traveling remotely close to Taipei, Taiwan.  It's definitely a "safer" place to deal compared to the thousands of tailors in Hong Kong asking you if you want a suit or the more sketchy ones in China.

I'll try to find it and post it here, but it's in the Hsimending (or Ximending in Pingying) area, very close to the Metro exit. Small tiny shop with an older couple running it. So I went to the Boss Outlet Center near Stuttgart the other day. And somehow I was talked into buying a black suit. Hugo Boss-style. I actually went their with the objective of getting business attire. When I left I realized I have a black suit on my hands. (knowing that black is not really business) The thing is: The Hugo Boss cuts are relatively sporty, so I do not look like an undertaker. The style is not pure black, the fabric has a really subtle criss-cross that breaks the light in a somewhat more interesting way than a purely black suit would. (I will try to take pictures and post them) Since I got the thing basically at half the price the loss isnt really that big, and its probably an extremely nice suit for a wedding or some such occasion - I just dont know if I should risk wearing it for the recruitment season this upcoming recruiting year. I AM European, though. Thanks for your thoughts guys. Cheers.

Just one late tip/revision to add to this. Your belt should match your shoes. So if you followed pelihu's instructions you would always wear black shoes with black belts and you would be safe.
However, if you feel like wearing brown shoes (especially the darker shades,) that's fine too, but make sure you change your belt to match it as well. I personally prefer wearing black shoes + belts with everything but a navy blue suit. I wear my dark brown shoes with a navy blue suit.

i dont think anyone has brought this one up - what about pants with drawtabs instead of beltloops? for my suit, the pants dont have belt loops at all. is this considered TOO formal? i dont want to appear like a slacker when they see im not wearing a belt (though some may catch on that there are no belt loops). on the other hand, i would think someone who pays attention to detail would appreciate a more "formal" pant style if they did notice i was lacking a belt? thoughts?

oh come on guys i'm not joking!!! the suit is from ralph lauren and no, it is not a tuxedo suit. but it is cut very "european" i guess you could say. thoughts? oh its black too. i guess thats another ding?

I am not in an MBA program yet but I am reaching out to students who are in MBA programs, did their summer internships at the firms I want to work for and they are going back full time. So if I meet them on campus for informational interviews should I wear a suit and a tie? Or just business casual?
