I am planning to leave work 5/19 and take a 8 day trip to Bermuda, come back bartend for about 3 weeks then travel to Vegas for a week and then go to the Grand Canyon and backpack for another 8-10 days. Then I am going to come back home bartend a few more weeks and move to Houston. I figure that this is really my last chance before retirement to take a bunch of trips in one summer, so might as well take full advantage of it! What is there to feel guilty about? Enjoy your time off and unwind, because you will hit the ground running come August!

you are going backpacking in Grand Canyon in July? That's....HOT!!!

I spend Christmas camping by the Colorado river. I would suggest taking the Kaibab trail going down and the Bright Angel trail while coming back up. I carried a lot more stuff than I needed to. There is a store down there at the phantom ranch where you can purchase snacks, coffee etc. You can even do rim-to-rim in summer. Can't wait to go back !

Here are some pictures that I posted earlier...

I'm taking 2.5 months off. One month will be spent backpacking in Europe and the other 1.5 will be spent moving/relaxing. Can't wait.

We did that last year to/from Havasuapai. It was not too bad, just had to carry a little more water than was convenient. Ill post the pics here. It was BEAUTIFUL. We are doing the Rim to Rim hike this time. Starting on the south rim (hot, but going down hill) and climbing out at the north rim where the average high is only 75 (not bad). Anyways, here are the pictures:
