Hello all applicants, This is Haas threadmaster. R1 deadline is very near and I know many of you are busy writing editing essays. Just as a pointer your resume is equally important and many schools require 1 page business resume so start thinking about that. I assume that many of you are pretty smart and already know how to do this but just want to point it out. So some pointers for resume Quote: 1. (Indian Applicants) - Please do not write down your 10th and 12th grade marks, no one cares about those. Same thing applies to your JEE, AIEEE ranks. They do sound great in India but here it doesn't really matter, I feel if anything they will hurt your profile by showing you are cocky.
2. No "Eagle Scout" or "Girl Scout" experience unless you are still ACTIVELY involved with them.
3. Make it more action oriented. For example "Proposed new product design method which encouraged innovation and led to 2 patents" or "Implemented such and such initiative which led to $xxxxx in annual savings and $xxxxxx savings in capital investment" or "Designed a blah blah model to reduced the testing requirement by xx%" Also, Don't forget that filling out the application itself is a long process so start working on it right now so if you realize that you are missing some documents you will have enough time to acquire those. Here is a good post about resume and mistakes to avoid http://gmatclub.com/blog/2010/08/4212/I am just giving my 2 cents because if you look at the numbers Haas could be the second or third most competitive school to get in. I just want everyone to put the best foot forward.

Moodyz wrote: Anyone know when Haas sends out interview invites for Round 1? The Haas School of Business Full-Time MBA Admissions Facebook page posted this on Monday, but unfortunately it's not too specific: ADMISSIONS VOICE: Congrats to everyone who submitted a Round 1 application last week! You're probably wondering what happens next, so here are a few quick insights from the admissions office:
1. Your application is currently being processed and will be ready for review by the Admissions Committee in the next few days. 2. There is no need for you to contact Admissions at this point. If we are m...issing any materials we will reach out to you. 3. Rest assured that your entire application will be read by at least two people (yes - real, live, humans!) before a decision recommendation is made. 4. Invitations to interview will start to go out in a few weeks and will continue on a rolling basis into early January. You will be notified by email and through a status change if you are invited to interview. Typically about 25% of applicants are invited to interview.
Best of luck to you all. We look forward to reading your applications!Hopefully soon! I just got dinged from HBS, so it would be nice to hear some good news...

Just saw this on facebook: BREAKING NEWS -- EXCLUSIVELY ON FACEBOOK: Interview invitations for Round 1 candidates will begin going out next week! We send out interview invites on a rolling basis, so candidates will hear from us throughout November, December and into early January. If you are invited to interview you will be notified by email and via a status change in your online profile. You will be paired with an alumni interviewer in your region, or may choose to interview with a current student on campus. Please do not contact us for an application update. Best of luck to everyone, we've really enjoyed reading many of your applications so far!

I had my interview the week before christmas, but was unable to post the questions due to a crazy hectic holiday travel schedule (and obnoxious airline staff and lost luggage). Hopefully this should help R1ers who are still preparing for interviews and of course people in later rounds.
Interview was with an alum, and he came in with a set of questions he wanted to ask (he also checked my linkedin profile beforehand, asked me if I had checked his and whether I knew his background)
Tell me about yourself. Why MBA? ST/LT career goals. Why Haas? Tell me about a time you had to lead a team. Tell me about a time you had to resolve a conflict witin a team. Strengths and weaknesses. Which of Haas’s core values do you see in yourself?
Concluded with my questions for him. Good Luck!

Everyone waiting for their interview invites take a deep breath. If BTG and GmatClub sample size is big enough to represent the entire applicant pool, then based on last 2 years data, Haas sends out interview invite to around 22% 25% of the total R2 applicants. <--- it was in an email received from Stephanie Fuji, so it is official. So far it has been only around 5%. So they will still send out plenty of interview invites. My chances are slim considering my profile (Indian / Male / Engineer / low GMAT / <avg GPA). So I am not holding my breath but many of you have a stellar profile. So keep your chin up and just wait.

GPT55 wrote: Could people who interviewed please share their experience regarding the official documents submission?
I have mailed mine almost 2 weeks ago (I'm from Europe) but the online application's status report still says that I should mail them. Unfortunately my country's postal service told me their tracking service screwed up so I have no idea whether it has been delivered or not. I'm a bit anxious as if it has been lost, I must send another one (this time by Fedex or UPS) before the end of the week for it to make it to the school before decision date.
In your experience, how much time did it take for Haas to process your documents and notify you about their reception? Also, were you sent an e-mail or did only the "send your docs" notification disappear from the online application's status?
Any input would be much appreciated! Thanks! When I sent in my transcripts they sent me back an email confirming that they received the documents. You should definitely follow up with the admissions office if you never received a confirmation.

But I disagree with you when it comes to not being worth applying to full-time MBA's in your 30's. You've appiled to 3 of the most selective schools in the world. A 770 GMAT and good GPA will help you, but won't close the deal. Keep in mind there are lots of people with great stats. Probably there is room for improvement in other areas of your application, who knows? And also, there are other programs in which you would be more competitive, for sure. I know most people have the H/S dream, but lots of other programs would help you achieve your goals. Keep in mind that an MBA is a mean to an end, no the end itself. We have lots of over-30 folks around here going to amazing schools! If you see potential in yourself, forget about your age! Take a day or a week to feel blue, then get your act together and move on, there is always next year! Best, bizwiz

Take a day or a week to feel blue, then get your act together and move on, there is always next year! Best, bizwiz I have to say I agree with BizWiz. While I also heard all the scary rumors that if you're over 30 don't even bother applying, I am 34 and have gotten accepted to two great schools for this fall (and still hoping for a 3rd!). But BizWiz is right on that good stats help, but aren't everything. I'm sure it's got to hurt, no doubt, and I'm sorry for your frustration. If you still want to go back next year, it could be worth asking the schools you applied to for feedback; in fact, I believe that Haas is one of the schools that actively offers to give feedback to applicants after the application season is over. Who knows, it could be simply that you had great goals but didn't clarify them well enough in an essay; or they wanted to see a little more volunteering work, or who knows. Don't give up if this is really what you want! I recommend reading the blog mbaover30.com: it helped keep me sane when I began to doubt that anyone would accept me because of my age, either!
