I thought it could be possible that someone who was waitlisted in R1 is now admitted to R2 after the adcoms saw the stats of applicants in R2...just idle speculation while I wait to hear back

I think they had stated that they would apply in round two but ended up applying to round one instead

by the way congratulations to everyone who was admitted in R1. Good job all! It's nice to see that you guys are still on the forum even after you are admitted.

Wow, I'm new to the forum but I'm happy to find that everyone here is so nice!!
Sunshineavenue, I'm trying to work on a R3 app as well and I know it's really hard. I don't know about you, but for my school it's much harder to get in on R3 so I'm a little discouraged right off the bat. I'm thinking maybe I should just forget about it and apply R1 next year if I need to, but knowing me I'll probably end up applying R3 anyway.

Jan 30 and Feb 7 for invitations!
Oh boy both those dates seem SO FAR AWAY! And surprisingly, unlike last year no stats about round 1 invitations!

yeah! Just read the post as well... the bit that freaked me out was "On February 7, all candidates not being invited to interview will be notified of their release" for some reason, it just made me even more nervous! let the nail biting begin!

That's less than 1 month (for the earlier day) from the submission date. If you're working on other R2 applications, I'm sure some are not even due until around that time, so you'll have something else to focus on. At least, that's how R1 went for me.

Right! It does seem soon but I was looking at last year's round 2 they sent out invitations around the same time even though the deadline was a bit later. One more thing, she doesn't mention what time on Jan 30 and Feb 7 the invites would go out but am guessing noon.

Dpulavarthi - good assumption, as everything from HBS has been released at noon. R1 interview invites went out by email at 12:02pm ET on 10/17, if I recall. That two minutes was agony though! Good luck to all R2 applicants - I hope I'll get to see you in a few months at the ASW for R2. In fact, when hunterashmore and I were chatting and he told me about this site I wanted to come on here and say hi/commiserate/anticipate all over again with y'all

The stats from last year are on the same blog, blog post dated: 13 Jan 2012.
Here is a excerpt: "Now, please pay attention - this is a new level of transparency that I hope is helpful, but I need you to understand that I am talking about what happened in Round 1 vs. telling you exactly what will happen in Round 2 (which we obviously DON'T KNOW now).
The pattern of interview invitation volume in Round 1 was:
Week 1 (first wave of invitations): 750 invitations sent Week 2 (second wave): 80 invitations sent Week 3 (third/final wave): 25 invitations sent
Round 2 won't be identical, but I think it will be directionally similar. Please hear me when I say that the timing of the interview invitation is NOT a signal of the strength of a candidate. The only thing that it maps to is the ability of our Admissions Board to move through their (large) reading allocations."
