Has my recommender known me for too little? [#permalink]

One of my tentative recommenders is a very nice teacher in whose course I got an A+. Would the fact that we´ve known each other for only about 5 months hinder admission prospects?
Is there any "extra-official" minimum acceptable period of time a recommender should have known the applicant?

I used one that I only worked with for 6 months for two applications. Accepted at one, waitlisted at the other and eventually denied. I think if your recommender can be specific about you and your skills, then 5 months wont be an issue. If you have someone youve worked with longer, that'd be better.

I think the problem here isn't how much time you have known this person, I think the problem is that academic recommendations are more or less worthless when applying for an MBA. Several schools specifically say to not use academic recommders, while other schools just highly discourage it.
You didn't say where you are applying to, but almost all schools ask for professional recommendations. I think you'd be doing yourself a favor by following their advice.

Actually I am applying to a PhD (but that forum rarely sees people in these days); the question was rather on how long a recommender should know the applicant without raising suspicious questions in the adm committee
