Hi,

I was waitlisted at HBS. Any advice?

Thanks!

Hi,

I was waitlisted at HBS in Round 1 and am still on the WL. Another person from my firm just got an offer from HBS in R2, so not sure if I'm just on the WL as a backup for that person in case they don't accept.

Either way, I really really want to attend HBS and am thinking of all possible ways to make this happen. Since they don't accept additional materials, would send a recommendation letter from my company's CEO (who was an HBS alum) hurt me or help?

Thanks!

Well, let him send it of his own will, without your involvement. I don't know that it will be extremely helpful, but as a former HBS alum, who is CEO, it's not bad.

Hope this helps,

thanks! so you're of the belief then that having a recommender send in a letter would not be viewed by HBS as breaking the "no additional materials" rule? good to hear your perspective

You need to clear something up. Did he write a recommendation for you or would this be someone who has not submitted anything on your behalf? If it is one of your recommendation writers not sure what it will do.

No this is not one of my recommenders. It would be a new letter, from a new person.

Well, with the two conditions: A) that it isn't motivated from you and B) that it will be very strong (which in this case, HBS grad + CEO I think applies), then yep.
