hi all,

i have a question. if anyone of you could please provide me an explanation....

is the sentence below all right.
I not only lost my baggage, but also lost my ticket.

i know a better form is:
I lost not only my Baggage, but also my ticket.

basically both the statements should be parallel:
lost my baggage is parallel to lost my ticket.
and my baggage is parallel to my ticket.

why is this sentence wrong:
Mr. Mehta is neither my father nor my father-in-law.
the correct sentence is:
Mr. Mehta is neither my father nor is he my father-in-law.

Similarly there are sentences such as:

In the play XYZ, one doesn't know whether the hero sees the original dog or a new one. (Incorrect)

In the play XYZ, one doesn't know whether the hero sees the original dog or he sees a new one. (Correct)

the captain told the passengers that they should sleep well, that they should eat in moderation and that they should do some exercises to stay fit.

the captain told the passengers that they should sleep well, eat in moderation and do some exercises to stay fit.

I dont know which is correct but there are cases when it says one is correct and the other wrong.
