help and suggestions for quant [#permalink] New post 17 Sep 2011, 15:15
Hey all,
Looks like my problem is a little different. I tend to do better in the verbal but have been struggling with Quants. I have done the Kaplan Math Work Book and have gone over the MGMAT books a couple of times and feel like I am getting it when i study. Somehow it all gets wiped away from my head in a few days even though i am pracrticing. DS is my biggest nemesis. I took the GMAT once and was complacent about the quant.. Hence Quant - 37 and Verbal - 35. Was shocked initially but then I realized something in my prep is going wrong. I am looking for at least a 700 on my next shot. In verbal, have to maintain my performance in CR and RC and have to ramp up my SC. But what do I do about the Big M? I used to be good in maths back in the days but have not had a chance to practice in a while. Could you please tell me what could be the effective resources and/or techniques to improve. Really need help. I am thinking about taking the GMAT again on the 1st week of November.

Hi ,

Look at my other post for Math Needs :

number-properties-approach-120562.html

Since you say , you are done with Mgmat math guides more than once, I would recommend go grab total gmat math by Jeff Sackmann. It has solid concepts plus good GMAT Like practice and challenge problems along with explanations. Once done grab Mgmat Math QB ( 5$ each X 5 ) and finish them off. Come back to OG 12 and do practice it all over again. Since your concepts are good ( if at all after using this approach !) , Dedicate a week to OG 12 Math and use an error log to review the problems you got wrong or felt tough the previous day. Re do them again the next day and start with that day's practice. I used total Gmat Book and should say its an awesome book. Take a gmat prep test and if you are on q -44 , use gmat club tests ( at-least 12 of them to boost your Math skills to 48plus )

:)

I would recommend you do the Gmatclub math sectional tests under timed conditions. Should help you get your game on!
