Help Needed On Programs Such as Stanford MSx [#permalink] New post  10 Jul 2016, 10:05
Hi AdCons (not Adcom!),

I am from India working in a bank with over 9 years experience in a managerial position. I have scheduled my GMAT on 10Sep2016, with an aim to apply to the various Elite Indian B-Schools that have 1-year MBAs. However, I recently came across similar programs in the US such as MSx by Stanford.
.
I would like to know the following:
1. What would be the ideal GMAT score to target for these types of MBAs / Master in management for experienced candidates like me?
2. Does any one of you Adcons assist with Stanford MSx and also suggest similar courses to apply for considering the above?
3. What are the various stages that you can assist with for programs such as MSx, your tariff , etc.
.
I would like to get in touch and work with an appropriate consultant.

PS: The GMAT scores that appear under my profile name are merely mock scores i secured in various MGMAT tests. My actual GMAT is scheduled on 10September2016.

Thank you for your post. I have helped and I am currently helping a number of applicants with the one year masters in leadership programs at Stanford, MIT and LBS.

1. While the target score will depend on the rest of your profile (undergraduate school and grades, work experience, extra-curriculars), you should target 700
2. Yes, as mentioned above, there are 3 main programs in this area:
Stanford MSx
MIT Sloan Fellows
LBS Sloan Masters in Leadership & Strategy

Hi Senthil,

1. A 700+ can make you competitive at these programs, given that the rest of your profile has some spikes. However, if you lack international experience, and if most of your experience has been fairly linear, aim for a higher score if possible. The GMAT is not the only criterion for these programs of course (they even provide GMAT waivers on a case-by-case basis), but your overall profile should definitely be strong. Also, keep in mind that for these programs, you will be at the lower end of the work experience spectrum, even after 9 years of experience.

3. The process covers all stages of the process, including the essays and the resume. We offer interview prep as well on these programs.

A few points here Senthil:
  1. There is no 'ideal' score unfortunately. Higher the better is the mantra. Since these programs are for experienced professionals though, they do selectively waive off the GMAT requirement. If you haven't yet - get in touch with the program adcoms right away. In that regard, it will be good to understand what part of banking have you been associated with - manager is a super generic term and doesn't really say much. In general, the IIM 1 year programs could be a better fit here.

1) I would target a score as close to 700 as possible. If you can do better - more power to you!
