HELP NEEDED PLS SHARE YR EXPERIENCE [#permalink] New post 06 Feb 2010, 17:15
HEY,
I have a problem with my practice.
I had my official GMAT test and I scored 430 Q32, V17) While on my practice tests Kaplan, MGMAT, 800score.com, Turbocharge, OG and etc- i was scoring 600+ .
My first experience as u see went really bad. Then I thought- it was my first try! Will achieve my 700+ next time.

I am planning to retake my Exam at the end of April, this month, but my CAT scores are very discouraging,:(
It looks like i am getting worse instead of getting better. I am practicing min 5 hours per day.
My last scores were:
MGMAT- 650 (Q42, V33)
800Score.com- 670 (Q42, V39)
MBA.COM- 540(Q40, V24) ( i never score high on MBA>COm)
MBA.com- 530 ( Q37, V26)
800Score-590( Q32, V38)
Mba.com Yesterday- 490 (Q35, V23 Baaad)
MBA.com ( today tried to check if I can do it again) - 450 (Q26, V25) it's the lowest Quant score I\ve ever made. YEsterday I thought, OK bad day, not to worry, will do it again the next day. Here I am- doing it again, and the score is getting lower and lower !!!
As you see i am not even close to 700!

My BIG day is only 3 weeks away...and i am going back to basics!

Does anyone have any recommendations????

Thanks in advance

5 hours a day is a lot of time to spend on studying for the GMAT (how do you make time for work, school, friends, extracurrics, etc.?). You could be burning yourself out, which may explain your wildly fluctuating/non-improving score. Ironically, I'd actually recommend spending less time on this, maybe 2-3 hours a day max, and then not thinking about the GMAT at all for the rest of the day. Don't take a practice test two days in a row; Ideally you'd space them three days apart. Also, give yourself a day off from studying once in a while.

The reason I suggest these this is so that you can:
  • relax,
  • not obsess over the GMAT, and (most importantly)
  • give yourself time for the concepts to "marinate"

Thanks for recommendations. I booked my holidays from work, and switched off the phone completely :( Because I don't have a time, I am FULLY concentrating on my GMAT.

MY Dayly to do lists include Concepts Revisions from MGMAT Books, 100 KAplan Questions ( 20 CR, 20SC, 20RC, 20DS, 20 PS), then Analysis , and CAT practice!

May be, as you said, I am burning myself out!

Will try to have a life outside my GMAT preparation!

Thanks once again
