I have purchased the OG and started doing the Sentence Correction Section. So far, I have completed 100 questions and I don't quite grasp the concept of differentiating unidomatic and idomatic sentence errors. Verbal section is not where I score well so is there a way to figure out the giz of it? Would you recommend any books to read and boost the score in verbal section? I have been through the PR and wasn't quite impressed.
try grammar smart from princeton review. it discusses the parts of speech and then gets into the common types of errors found in sentence corrections (i.e. subject-verb agreement, parallel construction, etc.). i believe once you can start recognizing errors in SC problems, it will be much easier to pick out the answer using POE.
Indeed, after doing 174 questions later, it starts to piece together now and becomes clearer. I am starting to be so conscious of my sentences being idiomatic or not, it is becoming taxing. Steep learning curve and pain ahead.....
I first went through the Princeton Review and started a PowerPrep test. My score lies in the range of 450 - 550. I hope to push it up into the 600s. My math is okay but verbal is what pulls me down badly. That's why I am panicking about it.
So far, the OG is giving me good guidance with explanation about each mistake I made, of cos with your advice, I hope to advance better.
Understanding my weakness, I am working on the SC, CR and finally CR. I am taking the test on Apr 9th, that leaves me less than a month left and the focus would be to spend 1.5 week on each section and practice on computer for the last two weeks. Wish me luck.
How about yourself? What's your strategy???
glad to help. i'm going to start working through the OG as well, and hope to finish it within a month. how are you preparing?
