The short answer is that it depends on the school. It seems like each school semes to have its own requirements for the data sheet... Some want just company name and job title, others want job title plus 50 or fewer words about what you did, others want a whole paragraph, etc. Assuming that you're also submitting a resume (most schools ask for one), you obviously don't want to simply rehash your resume 100%. But the data sheet (depending on the format) is often a chance to actually go into a bit more detail than what is on your resume. It's also a chance to highlight some different experiences. On your resume you may need to keep it down to a few short bullets, but on your data sheet you may be able to cover a few other, smaller accmplishments, as well.
So, don't worry too much about overlap. That's to be expected. But do yourself a favor and spend some real time on making use of the data sheets, rather than simply trying to sopy & paste your resume!
