If (X+Y) is negative we have to flip signs (i.e <) !!!

(X-Y) < 1*(X+Y)

but if (X+Y) is positive then:

X-Y > 1(X+Y)

using statements 1&2 will not help you find out if you have to flip the signs (i.e X+Y is greater or smaller then zero) hence the answer is (E)
