I thought D was correct since it uses passive voice correctly with the word "being". However going by the explanations esp the last one about appositives it seems A is correct

pretty confused with B n C.
but c will be eliminated as it has used the word "His campaigning " which is not correct.

so, final ans will be B.

This one seems to go for the tense.
Between A and B..I chose B, but A is better it keeps the sentence is present continous....

in B the "had" makes it perfect past... not required.

(A) His campaign for sanitary conditions in operating rooms finally successful (his is followed by Sir Joseph Lister)
(B) Since his campaign for sanitary conditions in operating rooms had been eventually successful (attribute to success is SJL’s campaign which changes the intended meaning)
(C) Because of the eventual success of his campaigning for sanitary conditions in operating rooms (attribute to success is SJL’s campaign which changes the intended meaning)
(D) His campaign for sanitary conditions in operating rooms being eventually successful (being is the deadly word in GMAT)
(E) Campaigning, eventually successfully, for conditions to be sanitary in operating rooms (seems to be confusing)

I am not satisfied with option A, because C is starting with a modifier and then followed by the noun "which is being modified so can anyone give an elaborate explanation for this question

I still feel C is the correct answer

I think you just have to keep it simple. Don't start a sentence with because. Also, the part within the comma describes the word immediately following it in A so go with A as your answer.

It is important to know why answer choices are grammatical - relying too heavily on one's ear or just "it's fine" is a bad idea because GMAT likes to create answers that sound good but contain errors. This post explains it and I don't know how it didn't get kudos.

The absolute phrase is tested, but it doesn't seem to be tested too frequently. If I were a test-taker, I would pick and choose my battles and focus my energy elsewhere.

That being said, OG Verbal SC #108 (link below) is another problem with an absolute phrase as the correct answer.

His campaign for sanitary conditions in operating rooms finally successful, Sir Joseph Lister lent his name to the company that developed Listerine, the first antibacterial liquid.

(A) His campaign for sanitary conditions in operating rooms finally successful
(B) Since his campaign for sanitary conditions in operating rooms had been eventually successful
(C) Because of the eventual success of his campaigning for sanitary conditions in operating rooms
(D) His campaign for sanitary conditions in operating rooms being eventually successful
(E) Campaigning, eventually successfully, for conditions to be sanitary in operating rooms

Cannot be B! Answer is A for sure!

Here are my thoughts:

(A) His campaign for sanitary conditions in operating rooms finally successful - CORRECT
(B) Since his campaign for sanitary conditions in operating rooms had been eventually successful - Had been eventually is not correct
(C) Because of the eventual success of his campaigning for sanitary conditions in operating rooms - Compaiging is not correct
(D) His campaign for sanitary conditions in operating rooms being eventually successful - Being is not correct GMAt prefer simple sentence as A
(E) Campaigning, eventually successfully, for conditions to be sanitary in operating rooms - Wordy Wordy Wordy

Hope it helps!
