Hi All,


I am new to this forum. few weeks back I took a diagonstic test (gmatprep 1) and scored 630( V-31 and Q45 ). After 3 weeks of going through manhattan books I took manhattan cat 1 and scored Q44 and V34. The verbal score surprised me. My accuracy in RC has dropped significantly dropped from around 80% accuracy (10/13--right in gmatprep1) to 45% accuracy (5/12-right in manhattan cat1). I can realise that manhattan quant was tough compared to gmatprep.

But how accurate are manhattan gmat verbal scores to actual GMAT ? The passages in manhattan gmat were not that difficult but the answer choices were. In all the 7 questions which I answered incorrectly I was struck only between 2 ans choices and most of these questions were inference type.

Is there a way to pick a right answer when one is struck with only 2 choices especially for inference type questions? If so please suggest.

MGMAT Verbal is more lenient in scoring than GMAT Prep.

First, let's state the obvious and get that out of the way: there is no substitute for the GMATPrep software. But based on my own experience using Manhattan's tests and reading probably dozens of threads on this exact same topic, Manhattan is good enough. There are some differences in wording, scoring, and quality between the two, but the Manhattan tests are an overall solid product. Don't worry too much about the differences and, as long as your scores are near your GMAT target, don't worry too much about the Manhattan scores either.

MGMAT tests are quite liberal when it comes to the scoring in the verbal section . i'd say don't worry too much about your scores , just make sure you thoroughly review the mistakes that you are making . Also maintaining an error log helps .

Once you figure out specific areas that you are weak in , do some targeted practice in these areas . Don't take practice tests too often because there are very few truly reliable practice tests available .
