How Admissions Consultants Work [#permalink]
27 Feb 2007, 10:41
Has anyone used an admissions consultant? Any opinions on whether they're really worth it?
I feel like I have a pretty good sense of what ad-coms are looking for, and I showed my essays to friends and got their advice, so I think all in all my essays were decent and my positioning was pretty good. But maybe an admissions consultant would have pointed out a lot of things that I didn't think of, but I don't know.
Anybody have thoughts on these services? And do these services actually write essays for clients if the clients provide the general outline for the essay?
The reason I'm asking is I can't help but wonder what different schools I would have applied to and what schools I might be accepted to if I had used a consultant (although I probably wouldn't have been able to afford it anyway).

Thanks for the info (should have realized this topic has probably been brought up many times already and done some searching on the forum).
