We haven't been as active on this blog and would certainly like to engage GMAT Club community members in this space as well. Right now, applicants preparing for the 2016/2017 season are carefully plotting strategy- getting the dates mapped out for R1 and R2 (please no one should be planning on R3 if you are this early in the process!) and looking at the essays. I was talking to a client recently and all those experiences of applying to B school came back like a flash... So I get that you, the GMAT Club reader has so much on their plate and could in fact be a little stressed right now! You may be wishing you could have more guidance and encouragement as you begin this journey.
For some people, it's just so much easier when you can work with someone who has been down this road before. Let me give you an example outside of B School to give you a brief respite from the process and then inspire you to get right back to work! I love to ferment things.... vegetables mostly but also some fruit and dairy products (think yogurt). And when I first got interested I really didn't know "how" to do this... yes I had youtube videos and all the online communities-- but I wanted someone to come to my house, chop cabbage with me, show me the right amount of salt to put in the mix and also guide me through using the right fermentation vessels such as using glass or ceramic and not plastic. It was just more fun that way for me-- and I suspect for a lot of you also. My first sauerkraut was with green cabbage, Granny smith apples, white onions and some caraway seeds. And most importantly, I just wanted someone to show that first batch and know that I wasn't going to die of some weird bacterial disease if I ate this concoction that I had left on my counter to essentially decompose over the past few weeks! So I had a teacher- someone who had been fermenting for years and I could ask her, show her my ferments and really be mentored through this process. And so I did... and now a decade later-- I am the one who teaches classes, sniffs other people's ferments and provides reassurance to others who are not as far down the fermentation path as me.
For Business School applications I see many similarities-- For most of you, you've never applied to business school before. And some of you will want to do it all on your own-- but some of you may find in the words of Winnie the Pooh...
"It's so much more friendly with two!" I can hear it in the voice of my clients when they have someone who understands MBA Admissions and has been through this process themselves; there is a palpable feeling of relief that I can hear in their voice as we talk about strategy on the essays. It is still you that will be doing the work; but you will feel guided and supported. And for many people, it can make what is an overwhelming and stressful process turn into something almost therapeutic. We can guide clients through understanding their key themes and the WHY that sets them apart and they can feel so much better about the process. Our counselors have all attended top MBA programs and have significant experience to share with clients. When you think about the kind of investment you are making in an MBA program, it can be a really smart move to have a guide as you approach this process. Some of you may be just fine on your own, but I suspect that there are many others out there looking for this personal touch!
So if you feel that way, now is the perfect time to give us a call! You can reach us at the
Stratus Prep link here or below. A huge relief in stress can be wafting through the air just as you make that call now!
And feel free to PM if you want more info on what to expect when you call. And for everyone, I wish you all the best as you approach a new MBA Application season.
