How do I improve my chance of getting into SMU M.Fin? [#permalink] New post 13 Nov 2011, 19:29
Hi, I am a Singaporean who wants to get into a M.Fin course. Currently, I am aiming for Singapore Management University M.Fin program.

My "only" profile:
1) Working experience- 2 years as a teacher teaching High School Accounts (civil service)
2) NUS BBA major finance (2nd upper) GPA: 4.33/5
3) Passed CFA L1, L2, L3 (pass each with one try)

I tried the GMAT Prep and got 740 (Q50, V34<=don't remember what my verbal score exactly).

How do I increase my chance of getting into the program? Does M.Fin require management experience like MBA? Does M.Fin requires me to do some voluntarily work? What are the traits that M.Fin Director is looking in a candidate?

Hi Miasatomai,

Many MSc in Finance programs have no work requirement at all and enabling younger students to apply for MS programs. However, as this is not true for all programs – London Business School and Cambridge University requires that MS applicants have relevant work experience in the finance industry – make sure you understand the requirements in advance by browsing individual school’s website.
Stay positive as your gmat score in practice session is superb. A score above 700 would suffice your dream to be in a top institute. Given your two year of work exp we would say that you are in a good position.
