Hi there,
That's a fantastic question - a lot of entrepreneurs often scoff at the MBA for entrepreneurship. They think if you have $200K to spend on an MBA, you're better off investing in your own business.
But an MBA can help a lot of not-yet-entrepreneurs find their footing. There are a few main ways an MBA can help:
1) Academic Gaps: Sure entrepreneurship in an existential aspect can't be taught, but tangible skills sure can be! Maybe you want to better understand pricing or want to take an entrepreneurial finance course. There are numerous ways in which you can put together your MBA to make sure you understand your business inside and out.
2) Network: B school is a great time to get involved in the local start up community. You have on campus groups, similar minded folks, and the time to hit up local area events. A network is critical!
3) Access to Mentors: Certain professors have been there and done that, and they can be invaluable as you're just starting out or even if you're established. Also, they have their own networks!
4) Access to the rest of the school: Let's say you want to do something in biotech but you don't have any experience? Well if you pick the right school, the school might have those folks! Connections like that can really help you get going.
Those are just a few things you can highlight. How you weave that together with where you've been and where you're going is going to make or break your application, however. Entrepreneurship goals are tricky for the best of applicants.
