Hi everyone,

My question is pretty straight forward. With my gmat fast approaching (10 days left!), I am wondering whether I'm ready or should postpone it... I've taken different exams (Kaplan, 800score, Princeton, gmatPrep, etc) for the last few weeks and my scores vary from 680 to 520 :oops: depending on the test... I just don't get it.... :roll:

I am aiming for 680 or above. I've been studying for over 3 months now, and have done all the questions in the OG, Kaplan and Kaplan 800 books and can answer 80-90 percent of the questions correctly. I am taking a week off from work in order to practice some more, but am not sure this will be sufficient. So I was wondering how those who had already scored a 700+ knew that they were ready.

So, how do you know?? :wink:
And, while I'm at it... do you think one week intense studying can really make a difference at this point?

Do the free GMAT PREP available at the GMAC website, One now, and the Other one or two days before the actul date. Both my prep scores were very close to the real score. If you feel confident after that, - Go ahead and DO the GMAT. Else, if your score is below 600 now on GMAT prep..my advice is to postpone.

800 score really dented my confidence, but it helped speed up my math.. But I persevered on math with intense practice in the last week (which I took off from work) . And it really helped boost my score. So yeah..one week off from Work is highly recommended.

Thanks so much for your reply! :-D

I'm so confused right now and just don't know what to do... I already did the Gmatprep 1 & 2 and scored 650 and 680. But then I scored a 600 with the 800score yesterday (completely messed up the math section) which really got me down... I guess I will practice like crazy for a week and if I really don't feel like I'm ready, just cancel.

I just wish there were more gmatprep tests. My scores in different tests vary so much, I find it tough to know when you're ready... have you tried other CAT tests?

The 800 score math is really tough,..but keep at it..it will probably improve your speed. dont let it get you down.

680 is pretty close to the mark.. suggest you use the one week to push it up above 700 ! all the best.

No, these were the only CATs i did before the real thing.

I've deceided to do my best, practice like hell this last week and just take it as planned. And if my score isn't high enough, I'll just take it again later.

Have you tried the MGMAT CATs? I've heard they are also good approximation to the actual gmat. You can buy any guide for about 20 bucks, and take a couple of free tests in this last one week.

Hard choices indeed. The MGMAT gives 6 free CAT with any book purchase, FYI.

Keep drilling those probs you got wrong... If you see a pattern in question type, maybe it is a gap of understanding.

there is always more that you can do to prepare - at some point you just go for it. and you can do it knowing that it's erfectly acceptable to retake if necessary. good luck!
