For the most accurate score predictions stick to GMATPrep practice tests(2 free ones and 2 in Exam Pack 1). I would even recommend the not so great GMATFocus over unofficial CATs.

Re: How does the GMAT differentiate scores? [#permalink]
Thanks for everyone's advice. I took the GMAT for the second time recently and it looks like I need to take it a third. I've taken the Kaplan live course and I think I may have maxed out there. I'm thinking of trying the Manhattan Quant section, what do people think about that course? I've heard good things mostly and that it's pretty challenging.

For reference, I got a 620 (45Q/30V) on the first GMAT, and a 640 (39Q/38V) on the second one. Since I took the first test, I have gotten 47, 44, 49, 49, and 41 in the quant practice tests through Kaplan. I have "broken through" on verbal and have been doing well on those. I don't know what happened on quant during the test - I think I got nervous after seeing the first few questions and not knowing the shortcut right away on them. I also spent too much time during the middle 12 questions.

I'm feeling pretty hopeful about the next test, all I think I need to really focus on is quant. I'm still going to stay fresh on verbal stuff, but I need to get more consistent with quant. Any advice on what to do? Do people think Manhattan is the way to go?

Hi UPindex,

I have a few questions on your studies so far:

1) On what date did you take each of your two Official GMATs?
2) What resources did you use before each of your two attempts?
3) Have you taken any of your CATs more than once?

4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT again?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
