how EXACTLY do you study for both quant and verbal? [#permalink] New post 02 May 2007, 18:42

I took a Kaplan class and it found it to be somewhat helpfull. I did most of the stuff that came with the course and my score improved minorly.
My GmatPrep score currently is 600 and I am aiming at 720.

I plan on taking the test in about 6 weeks and really need an agressive study plan.
Here is what I have done so far in addition to Kaplan class:

OG-11 both DS and PS. Did ok on PS(cant avoid stupid mistakes) but did not do well on advanced DS. Number properties definately screw me over.
Also did Kaplan Primer Quant stuff and found it ok besides advanced DS.
I definately am still having trouble with advanced combinatorics and the number properties.

I am currently doing OG-11 RC and plan on finishing all the verbal in OG by Saturday. I will work on Kaplan Primer verbal stuff over the weekend and early next week.

What do you think should is my next step for both areas?
I am also having trouble with timing on both quant and verbal and want to become better at that as well.

any advice would be much appreciated.

I would do 20 questions a day from each 1000 series. (ps1000, ds1000, cs1000....). It helped me to start avoiding stupid mistakes a lot.

Spend about 2 hours a night, if you can manage that, on just one question type. I just saw a great post in another thread about writing down the questions you get wrong on a flashcard. That might help.

Also, I wouldn't use Kaplan for verbal. Not much like the real test. I used PR and it is definitely on par. Some say MGMAT as well, although I personally haven't used them.
