How many 3 digit positive integers divisible by 7.

solution: highest 3 digit int. divisible by 7 = 994
lowest 105, their difference is 889, divide that by 7 yields 127.

solution says to add 1 to this number, so answer is 128.
Why?

ARE THERE similar problems where you don't add 1?

thanks!

You add the one because in calculating the difference you have excluded the smallest term which, in this case, is 105. If it asked "find all three digits numbers divisible by 7 between (but not including) 105-999 then you wouldn't add the 1.

Hope this is slightly clearer.
