How many bags of grass seed were used for rectangular lawn X [#permalink]

Please help: How many bags of grass seed were used for rectangular lawn X? 1. Lawn X has a perimeter of 720 feet. 2. One bag of grass seed was used for each 5000 sq. feet of lawn X.

E1&2. Area of rectangular lawn X is (0,(720/4)^2]=(0,32400]The number of bags is [1,7]insuff. if perimeter of the lawn were 240, the answer would be C. It would be very tricky question

Walker - I agree with E. But one of your assumptions here is tht the lawn is a square which it is not. L + B = 360. (720/2). Area of LB has a multitude of combinations and hence E.

at the constant perimeter, area of rectangle lawn is minimum: rectangle is very narrow and Area --> 0 maximum: rectangle is a square --> 720=4a --> a=180 --> area=180^2=32400 Therefore area of lawn is in the range (0,32400]

Therefore area of lawn is in the range (0,32400] Walker, if so I think number of bags of seed also lines in the range of (0, 6...) that is why E
