How many days until acceptance offer is withdrawn? [#permalink] New post 11 Jul 2011, 17:20
Trying to figure out the timing of my applications and ran into this question.

If I apply round one to 2 tier one schools and 1 tier two school, get rejected from the tier ones and accepted to the tier two, I would plan on applying to other tier one schools in round two. How long can I wait before I must accept or decline the offer from the tier two school? Do they withdraw the offer after a certain amount of days? I assume it varies by school but whats the general amount? Thanks.

you have a couple of months but most line up not to give you enough time if you enough time before you find out about r2, the school wants some idea before the next round. You may ask for an extension which in my case was always granted but both were 2 weeks, still not enough time, why not just do the tier 2 schools in r2?

I figured that I would have a better shot at my tier 2 application if I were to apply R1, before the tier 1 rejects started submitting their applications. By tier 1 I mean schools like Columbia, Northwestern, Penn. Tier 2 as in Yale, Cornell, NYU.

I guess the best solution would be to start cranking on my essays and fit as many schools in R1 as I can.
