How many different signals can be transmitted by hoisting 3 red, 4 yellow and 2 blue flags on a pole, assuming that in transmitting a signal all nine flags are to be used?

I figured this out by myself. But, it took an awfully long time.

The answer = 1260.

The 9 flags cane be arranged in 9! ways

But there are 3 red, 4 yellow and 2 blue flags, which will essentially lead to the same signal.

So, the number of unique signals = 9!/(3! * 4! * 2!) = 1260
