E. You don't know whether X and Y are positive or negative, something which we need to know the "distance"

I believe it's A since the difference between absolute values of integers with a difference of 5 will be 4.
Statement II is indeterminate.

(1) x,y >= 0 so x-y=5 e.g. 6-1=5 so 5,4,3,2 - 4 integers
(2) x>=0 but y <0 so x+y=5 e.g. 1+4 so 2,3 - 2 integers
so answer , I think E
