I have nothing better to do now, so thought of running a nothing-better-to-do poll.

I have shortlisted 8 to 9 schools, but I think I will eventually apply to only 6 of them. Not sure if I'm spreading myself too thinly.

I don't want to take risks... so I'm going to apply at 15 schools.

I'm applying to 12. Wanted to apply to more but my research advisor, also my key reference, thought that 12 was a lot. So I figure more may make the recommendations too much for him and make him not be too enthusiastic in the letters. I figure 12 is a good safe number. 6 great schools and 6 really good public schools

Welcome, jbsears. First time I see you in the PhD thread.

Which specialization are you applying to?

I'm applying for strategy and international business depending on where the professors that have the same research interest are located in their respective schools. I don't have the greatest application so I decided to apply to 12. Both undergrad and mba are approximately 3.3. My gmat (750) and my LORs should be the strengths in my application. I just hope my gmat covers my gpa enough to get through the initial weeding out of unqualified applicants to where they read my SOP and LORs.
