Just to get an idea from current and past applicants who are now MBA students.

I've read that the average is around 4-5 apps/applicant.

I'm applying to four schools for two reasons:
1) there aren't 8-10 schools that I would actually want to go to
2) I want to apply to all of my target schools in the same round so that I know what all my options are by January (but if I don't get interviews I'll apply to a safety school or two for round 2)
